Q: How do I join the Union?

A: Call your Area Organizer at 1-800-227-1199.

Q: How can I take a leadership role within the Union?

A: The Union is currently looking for County Moderators—a county level leadership position. Contact your organizer at 1-800-227-1199 for info.



Q: How much are dues?

A: 1.75% or $1.75 per $100 in your check, maxing out at 40 hours per week.



Q: What is COPE?

A: COPE stands for Committee on Political Education. It is a voluntary political deduction that the Union uses to endorse and help elect Union-friendly politicians.



Q: What is the FDIC Escrow Account and how do I sign up?

A: FDIC Escrow Accounts are set-up as a way for Independent Providers to set aside a percentage of their earnings to pay their Quarterly Taxes. IHPCU deducts the percentage you chose from your earnings’. The funds are held in a FDIC account until you submit an Escrow Withdrawal Form available on the Home Page.

  • a) If you are already a member simply fill out the Information Change form available on the Home Page
  • b) If you are not yet a member contact the Area Organizer for your county at 1-800-227-1199. A listing of Area Organizer’s by County is available HERE.


Q: Will I receive a monthly balance statement for my FDIC Escrow Account?

A: No. On the pay voucher you receive from IHCPU the Escrow amount deducted for that pay is listed as well as a year to date amount this is always your Escrow Balance



Q: How do I withdrawal my funds from my FDIC Escrow Account?

A: To withdrawal funds from your escrow account fill out the Escrow Account Withdrawal Form available on the Home Page of this site. Escrow withdrawals are paid out on the next pay cycle following receipt of your form.

Example: Your withdrawal form is faxed and received on Wednesday the funds will be paid out the following week on Thursday. If you are set up for direct deposit it will be deposited into the same account as your pay. If you receive a check you will receive your funds in check form as well.

Q: How do I make Bank/Address/Name changes?

A: An Information Change form is provided on the Home Page of this site. Only include bank information if you are changing your bank information. Changes are made the following pay after receipt of your form.

Example: Your Information Change form is faxed and received on Wednesday the funds will be paid out the following week on Thursday.
